About Sarah Mitchell & Budget Nest Studio

Sarah Mitchell, author, writer of budget nest studio

Hi, I’m Sarah.

A few years ago, I bought eleven storage bins without checking the size of my pantry shelves. None of them fit, so I returned all of them. That was the point where I stopped trusting most “perfect” ideas I saw online.

At the time, I lived in a small three-bedroom house in Ohio. I had more stuff than storage and a cleaning routine that took up too much of my weekend. I kept trying ideas that looked great in photos but failed at home. Some left residue. Some broke. Some only worked in large, ideal spaces.

I wasn’t looking for perfect. I wanted things that worked in a normal house, on a normal budget, with a normal schedule.

I couldn’t find that, so I started writing it.

Budget Nest Studio shares practical home organization, cleaning, and simple DIY ideas that hold up in real use. The focus is on making a home easier to manage without spending more than necessary.

What I Actually Do Here

I test everything at home first. Cleaning methods go on real surfaces. Storage ideas go in real spaces like my pantry and under my sink. If something doesn’t hold up after regular use, I don’t publish it.

Some methods work once and then fail. Some products look useful but aren’t. I write about those too. Knowing what not to do saves time.

I’m not an interior designer, and my home isn’t staged. I’ve spent years trying different approaches and keeping what works. I care about results, not how things look in photos.

I don’t take payment to promote products, and I don’t recommend anything I wouldn’t use myself.

Why Budget Nest Studio Exists

A lot of home content is built for ideal spaces and large budgets. It looks good, but it doesn’t help much in everyday homes.

This site is for real homes. Small spaces, limited storage, tight budgets, and ongoing mess. That’s what I deal with, and it’s what most people deal with.

Every article starts with one question: will this work in a normal home without extra cost? If not, it doesn’t go up.

A Few Things About Me

I’ve been writing about home organization, cleaning, and DIY for several years. I started on small blogs and built Budget Nest Studio to share straightforward advice without outside pressure.

I live with my husband and two dogs. There’s dog hair, muddy floors, and daily use. If something works here, it will work in most homes.

I don’t get everything right. If something stops working, I update it.

If you have a question, use the Contact page. I read every message and reply when I can.

Everything here is based on real use and what holds up over time.

Thanks for being here.
